Encouraging social change through design-based dialog.
Our participants were challenged to create an architectural expression of their personal philosophy on what imprisonment is or should be. Through their design process, they were asked to consider how prisons are used by societies, and what their affect is on those societies, as well as their caretakers and occupants.
Congratulations to Alejandro Fajnerman and Manor Sisso, Aaron Gardiner, and Andrew Wolfe, our respective first, second and third place winners, and to those nominated for honorable mention by a juror.
SOCIO DESIGN TM FOUNDATION
Between Architecture and Sociology is the recognition of spatial impact on the psyche of society. To understand this impact fully is perhaps impossible. But to understand that it exists is the opportunity to use design to change the world.
